For an open day, we had a excellent turnout on Sunday at Alberni Golf Club.
Club Captain Preben Rasmussen and his committee are doing a great job of making the men’s Sunday golf interesting.
They are dreaming up some very appealing games for the men to play.
This past Sunday there were 54 men playing in the ‘pick your own tee’ event. Each player could play from whatever tee he wanted: blue, white, red or gold.
Dave Mann had the best of the day with a net 62, followed by Bill Bjornson, Vic Carlton, Dennis Frykas, and Cliff O’Laney all coming in with 63.
Shooting 64 were Keith Gauthier and Cal Davies. Rounding out the top 10 were Mike Pechor, Mike Savard and Jim Proteau all shooting 65.
Closest to the pin winners were Cal Davies on No. 2, Bill Bjornson on No. 4, Terry Rai on No. 13, and Brian Tall on No. 17. The final prize courtesy of Smitty’s Restaurant was for a new category, the most honest golfer which was won by Gerry Fagan. That is a polite way of saying he had the highest score of the day.
One other thing gentlemen, don’t forget the computer has been open as of Monday, April 25. Remember you must enter your score before you play your next game.
Up next for the Men’s Club is the MacDermotts Insurance Agency Waltz which takes place Sunday, May 1. This is a four-man team event.
Please register with your own group in the pro shop no later than noon on Saturday. Shotgun start is 8 a.m
