Golf News: Fairmont Mountainside Men’s Club

Golf News for the week of May 18.

At last, warmer spring weather condusive to swinging a club without the burden of turtlenecks, sweaters and jackets, even toques and long-johns. The wind, rain and cold of April 27, our official club opening day, did not deter steadfast John Selzler from winning our Monthly Cup Competition. New member Brent Daugherty dropped the lone deuce while closest to the pin awards went to Frank Ashworth, Howard Stafford, Wayne Gergen and Brent.

A much more pleasant May 4 found the team of new member Steve Seheault, Gary Thompson, John Aitken and yours truly winning a four men game (net scores) competition. This outing also had a lone deuce winner, John Zedic, wih the KP awards going to the dependable John Denhamer, Ron Wolff, Steve and myself. Twenty-eight lager members participated.

May 11 saw the team of Cal MacPherson, Lawrie Nichol, Steve Seheault, and Paul Barrett run away with the best score in a four-men, two best net competition. Once again, a lone deuce was run in, this time by Norm MacDonell. Closest to the pin awards went to Wayne Geiger, new member Kirk Dawson, Lawrie and Norm.
