Jason Jurimae shot a 3-under 69 to win the season-opening stop on the Calloway Interior PGA Tour at the Vernon Golf and Country Club.
Jurimae, from Gallagher’s Canyon in Kelowna, pocketed $500. He finished two shots head of Rob Anderson of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club and Cody Bell from the Salmon Arm Golf Course. Anderson and Bell took home 4250 each.
Casey Johnson of Invermere’s Copper Point and Finlay Young from The Harvest in Kelowna tied for fourth at even-par 72, earning $150 each.
Top local golfer was Hillview’s Keith Vandenbrink, finishing in a tie for sixth at 1-over 73 with Russ Latimer of Kelowna’s Black Mountain. Both men took home $140.
Justin Baillargeon of the host club and Myles Johnson from Spallumcheen tied for eighth, shooting 74s to pocket $110.
Jesse Crowe of Salmon Arm (79), Brooks Jones of Vernon (81) and Chad Scott from The Rise (87) finished out of the cash.
Next stop on the tour is May 8 at Black Mountain.
The Zone 2 Junior Golf Tour swings into Summerland Saturday and Shannon Lake in West Kelowna Sunday.
Through the first four events, Spallumcheen’s Parker Wadsworth has cracked the top-eight in each event.
Wadsworth was fourth in the season opener at Osoyoos, carding a 78. He finished tied for seventh at Fairview Mountain near Oliver with another 78, shot 76 to finish tied for fourth at The Bear in Kelowna and carded a 79 to finish sixth at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club.
Jaden Steinke and Dexter Weiten of Vernon Golf Club also have top-10 finishes this season. Steinke was seventh at Osoyoos with an 84, while Weiten was 10th at both Kelowna stops, shooting 81 at The Bear and 82 at KGCC.
Other North Okanagan golfers participating on the tour include George Wilkins, Brandon Chai, Braeden Cooper, Hunter Penalva and Ryan Vest of Predator Ridge, and Will and Max Lockwood from Vernon.
The lone North Okanagan stop on the tour is slated for Saturday, May 13, at Vernon Golf and Country Club.
