The chances are 1 in 12,000, but John Timothy beat the odds and got a hole-in-one at the Stuart Lake Golf Course Aug. 17, a shot worth $10,000.
It was the first time ever that someone won that big of a prize at the Stuart Lake Golf Course. The shot was made during the Golf For the Cure tournament to raise money for breast cancer. The tournament was open for both men and women because men can get breast cancer too, said Dave Burgess. “People also like to play with their spouses,” said Mr. Burgess.
The weekend pulled in $500 to go toward cancer research which was applauded as an accomplishment in itself.
However the big news for the weekend was the seemingly impossible hole-in-one score made by a Fort St. James resident. The requirement to win the money was to get a hole-in-one specifically on hole four, a shot over 150 yards, specifically on that day and that day only. “As soon as I won the first thing that popped into my head was me and my wife are heading somewhere warm,” said Mr. Timothy.
