Golfers experienced another great day in paradise last weekend on the links. The sun was shining and most players at the Alberni Golf Club playing in the men’s league were in shorts. Another excellent turnout saw 62 men competing in the MacDermotts Insurance Waltz.
The team of Mike Pechor, Russ Israelson, Mike Savard and Chris Owen emerged the winners, coming in with a score of 119.
In second place with a score of 122 winning on a count back was the foursome of Vic Carlton, Kevin Carlton, Mark Anderson and Brian Tall. Next was the group of Bill Bjornson, Cal Davies, Tylo Smith and Cliff O’Laney.
In fourth place was the team of Lloyd Fairley, Steve White, Fred Fredrickson and Gerry Fagan. How do you go from being the most honest golfer to a sandbagger in one week?
Fifth place was won by Craig Acland, Clark Crowe, Keith Gauthier and Darren Van Dyk. Then came John Panagrot, Tom Price, Dennis Frykas and Jaques Giovetti. In seventh place was the team of Wolf Suhr, Ned Stewart, Ted Stewart and Mel Trelvik.
