Gowie, Rennison earn CIS hockey titles

The Calgary Dinos are CIS women's hockey champions.

Vernon’s Alex Gowie and Armstrong’s Erin Rennison will have their names engraved on the Calgary Dinos’ first-ever CIS women’s hockey championship trophy.

Gowie, a freshman, sat out the final – won 5-2 by the Dinos over the Montreal Carabins before 800 fans at Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton.

Gowie  had one goal and one assist in four playoff games, and one goal in the regular season. Rennison, a junior had six assists in 23 games.

Hayley Wickenheiser scored twice  for the Dinos.
