A local from Grand Forks, Noah Makortoff, will be on the Kootenay baseball team for the BC Summer Games.

Makortoff is excited to be a part of the team and will patrol the left-field.

“I like the competitiveness and pace of the game,” he said. “My coach Paul Mason asked me to come and try out, so I did. There were quite a few players who were there.”

After the tryouts, Makortoff was happy to note that everyone has been getting along.

“So far it’s a good group of guys,” he added.

A Grade 8 student, Makortoff has been playing baseball for most of his young life and remembers growing up with a baseball always within reach.

Makortoff joins Grand Forks father and son coach and player pair Shane and Evan Gorman on the Kootenay team.
