Trail conditions are excellent for the Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet this Saturday, Jan. 17.
Crews at Larch Hills have been working diligently to groom and widen the trails for the hundreds of skiers expected to participate.
The Loppet begins at 9 a.m. at the Larch Hills ski area. Lunch will be provided after the race at the chalet.
From 2 to 8 p.m., there will awards, dancing and a jacuzzi soak at the SASCU rec centre.
Awards will be given to the top-three skiers in each class except for the recreation categories. Trophies will be presented to the overall winners, the oldest and youngest and farthest away skiers.
Course lengths: ages four and under: 1 kilometre; five to seven: 2 km; eight to 13: 5 km; 14 to 17: 17 km: 18 and older: 34 km; recreational: 10, 17 or 23 km.
Online registration closes tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 15); final registration ends Friday, Jan. 16, 8 p.m. at the SASCU rec centre. Entry forms are also available at Skookum Cycle and Ski and John’s Ski Shack.
The Loppet is a fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon. More than $400,000 has been raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation over the past 30 years.
