GW Graham’s Deanna Tuchscherer one of the best in B.C. high school hoops

The Grizzlies star was named to the B.C. School Sports Girls B-Ball Association's Top 15 list.

GW Graham basketball star Deanna Tuchscherer has added another entry to her sparkling high school hoops resume.

The teenager has earned a spot among the B.C. School Sports Girls Basketball Association’s Baden Super 15.

Coaches at the A, AA and AAA levels were asked to vote for the top opponents their teams have faced this year. A BCSSGBA committee compiled the list of nominees and whittled it down to the Top 15.

Tuchscherer was a slam dunk choice.

The six-foot-one senior forward has averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for the Grizz, who head into AA provincials this week as the No. 3 seed.

Tuchscherer led GWG to the tournament final last season, where they fell in overtime to Maddy Gobeil and the South Kamloops Titans.

Gobeil is also on the Top 15 list and the two girls will be teammates on the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades next fall.

Marin Lenz, who grew up in Greendale and is a Grade 11 star at Abbotsford secondary, made the Top 15 after averaging 29 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Panthers. Her sister, Sienna Lenz, is finishing up her freshman season at Simon Fraser University.

Other members of the Top 15 are Shemiaiah Abatayo and Surprise Munie of the Britannia Bruins (Vancouver), Jessica Clarke of the St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints (North Van), Jenna Dick of the Brookswood Bobcats (Langley), Kennedy Dickie of the Kelowna Owls, Faith Dut, Tara Wallack and Izzy Forsyth of the Semiahmoo Totems (Surrey), Makenna Gardner of the Langley Christian Lightning, Tana Pankratz of the Yale Lions (Abbotsf0rd), Jessica Parker of the Riverside Rapids (Port Coquitlam) and Jessica Wisotzki of the Walnut Grove Gators (Langley).

Wisotzki’s teammate, Tavia Rowell, was named the Player of the Year.
