Gymkhana competition outstanding this year

Watch Lake/Green Lake Gymkhana winds up two-event season

Riders from multiple divisions mounted their horses to compete in a number of races in the season’s second and final Watch Lake/Green Lake Gymkhana at the Green Lake gymkhana grounds Aug. 10.

Points were totalled between the two events – the first taking place July 13 – and overall year-end winners were awarded.

The Senior division winner was Terris Billyboy, with Punky Mulvahill as runner-up. Kaylee Billyboy won the Intermediate division and Carolyn Cook was runner-up.

The Junior division winner was Rayelle Robinson and Cecilia Warren runner-up, while John Noskey was the overall winner and Dane Robinson runner-up in Peewee.

As well as traditional events, such as pole bending and barrel racing, riders participated in novelty events – a baton race and boot race.

In the baton race, Johnny, K. Billyboy and T. Billyboy took first place, while Melynda Neufeld, Gunn and Mulvahill finished second.

Dionne Wesloski won the boot race and Chamberlain finished second.
