Tamara Skulstad, with an all-around gold medal, led an impressive medal haul by Mission athletes as Twisters Gymnastics Club hosted its invitational meet last weekend.
Competing in the provincial Level 5 tyro division, Skulstad earned top marks on the vault, bars, beam and floor en route to the overall title.
Tamara’s sister Ashlynn also climbed the podium, winning gold on the floor in the national open category, and both sisters will compete at the upcoming Western Canadian Championships.
Other Twisters athletes from Mission to earn medals included Justine Robinson (Level 5 open, tie-gold on vault, bronze all-around), Marissa Engh (Level 3 argo, bronze all-around and bars) and Sydney Steeg (Level 2 novice, bronze on beam). On the men’s side, Ethan Ikeda (gold on floor and pommels, silver on rings and parallel bars, bronze all-around) and Evan Raible (gold on horizontal bar, bronze on pommels) climbed the podium in the Level 2 category.
