Gymnasts win provincial championships

Julina Benjamin and Samantha Jones of Nanaimo Gymnastics School won gold at Gymnastics B.C.'s provincial championships this month.

Nanaimo Gymnastics School athletes won provincial championships and dozens of medals at Gymnastics B.C.’s provincial championships in Langley this month.

Julina Benjamin won the all-around provincial title in her Level 9 division, qualifying her to compete at the Western Canadian championships in May.

Also an all-around provincial champion is Samantha Jones in Level 7.

Results from provincial championships April 15-17 include:

Level 3 boys – Ethan Bryson, third, pommel horse.

Level 7 girls – Samantha Jones, first, bars, first, all-around; Jayla Franklin, second, beam; Julie Scott, third, bars; Brooke Wright, third, bars.

Level 8 girls – Sierra Schuler, second, beam; Savannah Rathy, second, vault.

Level 9 girls – Julina Benjamin, second, bars, first, beam, second, floor, first, all-around.
