Haaheim tops Kal 9km

Kelowna’s Trevor Haaheim wins Kalamalka Park 9km Cross-country Run Sunday morning.

Kelowna’s Trevor Haaheim shaded Vernon’s Aaron Heidt by four seconds to win the Kalamalka Park 9km Cross-country Run Sunday morning.

Haaheim finished the hilly loop in 36 minutes and 20 seconds. Hosted by Kal RATS, it is the fourth leg of the Interior Running Association’s cross-country series.

Vernon’s Nathan Champness was third in 37:28, with Dudley Coulter (39:05) and Steve Russell (39:44), both of Vernon, rounding out the top five.

Vernon’s Seija Deleenheer was the first female runner in 46:55, followed by Vernon’s Judie Goplen (49:20) and Mel Spooner (49:40), in second and third. Vernon’s Shanda Hill (49:44) and Shuswap Falls’ Diane Vanderstar (50:12) turned in top-five showings.
