Heat cook up win

Vernon Heat maul Kelowna Mustangs 11-6 in Midget girls fastball play Tuesday night at Grahame Park.

The Vernon Heat (sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion #25) mauled the Kelowna Mustangs 11-6 in Midget girls fastball play Tuesday night at Grahame Park.

Kelowna scored one run in the first inning, with Dallyce Edwards pitching and Lexie Edwards handling the catching duties.

Vernon responded by scoring five runs in their first at bat, getting runs from Desiree Turnbull, Stefani Anderson, Lexie Edwards, Shelby Munk and Dallyce Edwards.

Kelowna scored three times and turned a double play on defence, holding Vernon to a run by Caitlin Rolke in the second, making it 6-4 Heat after two.

Munk pitched for the Legion crew in the third and final inning with Mykaila Head catching. Vernon shut out the Mustangs and rallied in their last bats to score five runs: Dallyce Edwards, Head, Dee Dee Ferguson, Keara Crandlemire and Rolke.
