The Heat played host to the Icebreaker Tournament at High Noon Park last weekend, featuring 14 teams, with seven of those from the Edmonton area.

Kelowna opened with a 6-2 win over the Edmonton Warriors U18A team.

Gina Selfe was the winning pitcher and helped her own cause by hitting a bases clearing double to score three in the first inning.

Danya Truscott-Plitt drove in two more runs in the fourth and Jaedyn Foley was strong in relief picking up the save.

Game 2 saw Kelowna defeat the Sherwood Park U21B Adrenaline 8-7.

The second inning saw Kelowna’s two youngest players hitting back to back doubles. Truscott-Plitt started it off, then Racquel Bennett narrowly missed a home run, hitting the fence to bring a run home. Dana Ingram had a very strong game on first base.

Game 4 finally saw Kelowna meet its match and come up on the bad end of a 7-1 drubbing by Calgary Adrenaline u16A team. A few great catches by Candice Vuong in left field prevented the score from being more lopsided.

Foster, Bennett, Huston and Selfe all drove in runs in a five-run fifth inning. Brazinha and Huston split the pitching duties and Bennett and Shayla Tyerman were solid defensively up the middle.
