The SRT Titans get their last chance at a win in their first season of varsity football, on their home field tonight.
Last Friday, the boys from Albion matched the visiting Abbotsford Collegiate Panthers drive for drive. For the longest time the game remained locked at a converted touchdown each. The Titan score came on a ramble by their star player Tyrel Ogloff. He was given a short field, when a failed Panther’s short kick off was corralled by Spence Clinton, who then scampered 24 yards.
Midway through the third quarter Abby doubled the score 14-7.
The home fans were disappointed when a flag was thrown negating a Titan touchdown in the fourth.
Towards the end of the game the stubborn SRT defense held Collegiate with four goal- line stands, but the Panthers still recorded their lone victory of the season.
SRT Titan standouts in this emotional contest were six-foot-six receiver Liam Evanow, who pulling in five catches for 71 yards. Converted QB Ogloff had 72 rushing yards and a 35-yard kickoff return.
The stellar defence was led by Ryley Loeppky’s eight tackles, Scott Murdoch’s six, and Brandon Ramsey’s five tackles and a fumble recovery.
Tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m. SRT’s inaugural season ends against G.W. Graham of Chilliwack, who have gone 1-5.
Marauders
The Pitt Meadows Marauders beat G.W. Graham by a score of 36-0 in last week’s action.
That improved Pitt’s record to 3-3, and they can finish the regular season with a win if they can beat Langley tonight at McLeod Park, at 7 p.m.
These two teams would appear to be evenly matched, as Langley is also 3-3, but a look at the full standings shows the Marauders have allowed only 87 points against in six games, while the Langley squad has been lit up for 218 by the same teams.
