In a swap of 1998-born forwards, the Vancouver Giants announced a trade Wednesday (Oct. 19) that sent Gage Ramsay to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for Josh Bruce.
Bruce, an 18-year-old native of Surrey, is in his rookie season in the WHL.
With the Blades, he had one goal in four games this season, and made his debut with the Giants at home Sunday (Oct. 23) in a 5-4 loss to Tri-City Americans.
“We’re excited to acquire a local product in Josh Bruce,” said Giants GM Glen Hanlon. “We’re putting a lot of emphasis on bringing in character and size, and he has both of those qualities.”
Listed at six-foot-one and 185 pounds, Bruce spent last season playing alongside current Giant James Malm, a North Deltan, with the Valley West Hawks, champs of the BC Major Midget League. Bruce scored 12 goals and 16 assists in 39 games in 2015/16.
