West Kelowna teenager Brock Hoel set the pace for all other athletes at the fourth edition of the Fresh Air Cherry Blossom Triathlon Sunday in Kelowna.
Hoel, 16, completed the 750-metre swim at H20, a 20 km bike and 5 km run in one hours two minutes 30 seconds.
Kelowna’s Cory Krist was second in 1:04:30, while Penticton’s David Matheson took third overall in 1:05:25.
In the women’s division, former national team swim member Jessica Deglau of Kelowna showed the way in 1:12:36.
Kelowna’s Carmelle Guidi-Swan was second in 1:13:01, while West Kelowna’s Janae Hoel was the third female to finish in 1:16:05.
Close to 300 athletes from as far south as Washington State and as far east as Sudbury, Ont., took part in the event.
The top relay team was Doak Shirreff Lawyers with a time of 1:12:10.
