The ladies of Hollies celebrated the first day of summer in near perfect golf conditions. The weather was stellar for Ladies Night.
However, I no longer can use the weather as an excuse for the exceptionally high scores that I have been turning in this year.
After a delectable dinner prepared by Charlene, Pat handed out the evening’s prizes. Lisa Young won KP.
The longest drive, donated by A Step Above, was won by Suzanne Jones. KP on the second shot, sponsored by Urban Hair Studio, was nabbed by Sue Steinhaeur. Longest putt, sponsored by Tim Horton’s, was won by Mary Ann McConnell. Laura Lee Edgell took the low gross score of the night in the “B” division. Sue Steinhaeur, won the low gross score in the “A” division. Sue was only five strokes off the course record. Congratulations ladies.
Congratulations to Jackie Little on being crowned the B.C. Golf Senior Women’s champion. In addition to being a golf champion, she works long hours alongside Pat running Hollies Golf Course. She is also one of the nicest people that you will ever meet.
Hearing about Jackie’s victory, started me thinking about my children. Their fondest childhood memories are those of being on the golf course with their grandparents. They spent many a summer day golfing, talking and sharing.
If you are a golfer, take the time to give back. Bring your child or grandchild to the golf course. If you don’t have a child or grandchild, ask a junior golfer to do a round with you. They will enjoy the experience and the knowledge that you will share with them.
And their natural affinity for having fun will help you rediscover why you started playing this game in the first place.
Hollie’s Ladies Night is every Wednesday. Tee off time is at 6 p.m. Call 250-724-5333 to reserve your spot.
