Hot night on course for ladies golf

Ladies Night Golf at Chinook Cove Golf Resort with Leslie Stirling

By Leslie Stirling

Another sunny hot afternoon/evening on the golf course Aug. 16.  It just doesn’t get any better.  Thirty-one ladies took the warm temperatures in their stride.

I am starting to think we should hold Ladies Night all winter.  We can skip the golfing.  Just show up for dinner and a lot of laughter.

In Flight 1 Marion Wallace and Karen Peterson scored matching 49s.  Marion won the low gross by retro and Karen picked up low net from the Flight sponsor Interior Savings Credit Union.  Flight 2 sponsor was Armour Mountain Office Supplies.  Low gross went to Vicki Hoffer with a fantastic score of 48 while Audrey Rilcoe took home low net.  This week Carl’s Market Garden sponsored Flight 3 while we had two sponsors for Flight 4 (HUB International and Ron Wallace Trucking).  Irene Beeton had low gross with a score of 64.  Barb Smith and Brenda Carl tied for second low gross with scores of 67.  Marian Wallace won the birdie pot while the deuce pot will be carried forward to August 30.  I think that if I am ever going to score a deuce again now would be the time to do it.

On Hole 1 Anita Hill had a long drive to win the Barriere Massage certificate,  JoAnn Lyle took home the Barriere A & W prize for Flight 3 long drive, and Marian Wallace scored a KP in 3 to pick up the gift card from Barriere Timber Mart.  Long putts on Hole 2 and 3 earned prizes for Leslie Stirling (Country Store Antiques), Doreen Landry (Estylo Hair Design), Marian Wallace (Knights Inn) and Dorothy Warman (Pottery by Ramona).  Only 4 of the 8 KP prizes were won.  Audrey Rilcoe (Campbell & Co) and Betty Foote (EBL Ventures) hit the green on Hole 4 while Debbie Rainer (Westwin Realty/Cindy Leibel) and Catherine Reim (MJB Lawyers) hit the Hole 6 green.  Nice putts on Hole 5 were made by Betty Baillie (Rainer Custom Cutting) and Brenda Carl (Sam’s Pizza).  Thanks to Carman and Barb Smith with some help from Stamer Logging the ladies who put their balls in the gully on Hole 7 went home with a sparkling new ball.  Some ladies went home with two.  Marian Wallace had two great strokes to land on the green on Hole 7 and take home the Station House Restaurant prize for KP in 2.

On Hole 8 Audrey Rilcoe had the longest putt to pick up the certificate from The Blue Jar Coffee Bar & Bistro.  On Hole 9 a long putt gave Shirley Wiley the AG Foods certificate while a long drive gave Karen Peterson the Val Bella Studio certificate.  Catherine Reim made the most use of her putter (Gift ‘n Gab) while Ilke Marais used her putter the least (Ron Wallace Trucking).

Next Tuesday the ladies hit the course to support folks who are dealing with the high cost of Cancer.  The ladies will be raising funds through pledges and we are hoping to exceed last year’s total.  Stay tuned to see how we do.
