Huskers stomped by Sun

The Valley Huskers took it on the chin Saturday, falling 61-0 on the road to the Okanagan Sun.

The Valley Huskers took a beating in BC Football Conference action Saturday, losing 61-0 to the Okanagan Sun in Kelowna.

The Huskers struggled again to gain yards, barely topping 100 yards in net offence (124).

Ty Derayos carried 11 times for 50 yards to lead the running backs. Quarterback Cody Parray scrambled five times for 48 yards.

Parray dropped back to pass 21 times, completing 10 for 63 yards and two interceptions. Kelowna’s Wes Giesler took one of those back 62 yards for a touchdown.

The Huskers got close enough to try one long field goal, with kicker Dan Erickson missing from 42 yards out.

The Sun offence cut through the Husker defence for 263 first half yards, taking a 49-0 lead into the break.

Kelowna running back Alex Bradley went over the century mark, getting 108 yards on 16 carries.

Bradley had three TD runs, and added a fourth on a 100 yard kickoff return.

Sun quarterbacks Cam Bedore and Theo Deezar combined to complete nine of 14 passes for 135 yards and three TDs.

Deezar had all three touchdown tosses, hooking up with Tommy Howes, Zach Regert and Lerone Robinson.

The Sun also got a 33 yard field goal from Thomas Huber.

The Huskers (2-6-1) wrap up the regular season at home Saturday afternoon, taking on the Langley Rams at Townsend Park.

The Rams beat the Huskers 54-7 Sept. 21 in Langley.

Kickoff is 1 p.m.
