Huskers to host Seattle Seahawks coach

Super Bowl winning coach Pete Carroll will be in Chilliwack in May to talk about tackling technique.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and associate coach Rocky Seto are coming to Chilliwack May 14 to present the Hawk Tackling program.

Carroll and Seto will discuss it for the first time in B.C., appearing as guests of the Huskers spring camp.

New Husker coach Jason Quinter is interested in Seattle’s rugby-style tackling which was developed to reduce the number of occurrences  and the severity of concussions and related injuries.

Not only has the new method reduced head traumas, it’s also credited with helping turn the Seahawks into one of the best tackling teams in the National Football League.

Carroll and Seto pioneered the program while both were coaching the University of Southern California (USC) Trojans.

They’ve brought it to high schools, colleges and amateur football associations across the United States and Canada.

“Their presentation will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coast Hotel and there will be ample time left for Q and A’s,” Quinter said. “We encourage coaches and parents to come out and see for yourself why this system has been so successful in reducing concussions and head injuries.”

Because of limited space, registration is required.
