Add another accolade to an already stellar season so far for the Abbotsford Middle School Huskies Grade 8 boys basketball team.
The club won the Pitt Meadows Secondary School Airshow tournament on Jan. 9, posting three big victories to earn the title. They beat Thomas Haney 55-26 on Friday, downed Carson Graham 54-51 on Saturday, and then defeated host team Pitt Meadows 55-36 in the final.
Anish Dhaliwal, Karn Brar and Kevin Endozo earned players of the game nods. Brar was named a tournament first-team all-star, with Endozo winning the tournament most valuable player award.
The Huskies are a perfect 15 wins and zero losses this season, and also won their division at the Abby PD city basketball tournament in December after beating Eugene Reimer Middle 57-18 in the final.
Next up for the Huskies is a trip to Kamloops to compete in the South Kamloops Invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday. They then are scheduled to play at the Semiahmoo Totems tournament on Jan. 22 and 23, and the Walnut Grove Gators tournament on Feb. 5 and 6.
On top of the tournaments, there is also regular season action in advance of the BC high school basketball playoffs, which begin in the second week of February.
