The Vernon Ice Breakers swept a pair of Under 10 ringette encounters last weekend, opening with an 8-7 win over the Kelowna Fire Rings.

Lucia Manton opened the scoring 15 seconds into Saturday’s game on a pass from Maryssa Wilson.

Kelowna scored three straight goals before Sabrina Kennedy got the Icebreakers back on the board with an assist to Sienna Vanderlinde.

Kiera Horton, from Piper Kennedy, and Rory Lang, from Maryssa Wilson, recorded the next two goals for Vernon. Manton and Wilson then took turns setting up one another for goals before Rory Lang tied the game at 7-7.

Kiera Horton passed to Manton, who sniped the winner with seven seconds to play.

Keira Braddick was excellent in the Vernon net.

Manton took a turn in net and was stellar as the Ice Breakers bounced the Shuswap Cobras 11-4 Sunday at Kal Tire Place.

Horton pulled the hat trick, while Mackenzie Boule counted the first snipe of the second period on a nice passing play from Ginger Demetrick and Ciara Jolie. Boule converted less than a minute later, from Keira Braddick.

Shuswap replied with two more goals from Cadence Tulak before the Ice Breakers reeled off five unanswered tallies: Emily Loose, Marlee White, Braddick, Lang and Sabrina Kennedy. White and Kassidy Peterson each earned three assists.

Hailey Robert was solid on defence the whole weekend.
