Saturday afternoon saw the Ring of Fire team put in a solid performance against Kelowna.
In a match that saw each team trading goals, the first period came to an end with 3- all on the scoreboard. Goals came from Tori Keehn (Stephanie Martin), Kassi Archambault (Brooklynne Agricola) and Megan Clark (Paige Saitz). Keehn opened the second period with a great goal assisted by Martin.
The team’s lead was short lived, however, as Kelowna scored two consecutive goals in short succession. Never giving up, Ring of Fire battled on and Keehn was rewarded with a hat trick with 1:32 left on the clock. The team continued to apply pressure and the crowd erupted as Keehn’s final shot on goal appeared to go in. Sadly the ring did not cross the line. Final score: Kelowna 6, Ring of Fire 5.
Sunday afternoon’s game was versus the Shuswap Petite 1 team. Both teams came out strong and determined. Great team work resulted in the team leading
3-2 at the end of the first.
Stephanie Martin got her groove back and successfully found the back of the net three times during the match. A special mention must be made of the great defence work by Emilie Petrychen, Emma Kirkman (both having assists during the game) and Alexa Hadath.
Hadath brings an enormous amount of courage and determination to every game. Not going unnoticed is also the huge improvement in Marissa Materi’s game. Materi fought hard during this game and came very close to scoring on two separate occasions.
Helping to add to the scoreboard were: Kassi Archambault, Tori Keehn (Archambault) and two goals from Brooklynne Agricola.
Final score: Ring of Fire 7, Shuswap Petite 4.
