It has been an interesting few days inside our room. We had to make some player moves. And that’s always a risk when you have a tight group like ours. Changes to personal must make sense to a young team or it can set back the chemistry.
But as tough as it is to see friends move on, new faces do take their place. One of the realities of life in Jr B hockey is; the only constant, is change.
A big part of what we do as coaches is to try and create an environment where players will perform to their potential. Team success comes from a players’ willingness to put the group first. Written on the wall, facing you when you walk in our room, are the words, “Eger to Sacrifice”. A very important philosophy we ask our players to buy in to.
Remembrance Day is always a great opportunity to reinforce how essential personal sacrifice is for team success. Blocking shots, working hard in practice, being a good teammate are all characteristics it takes to be a Revelstoke Grizzlie.
We had two important road games this past weekend. Friday vs North Okanagan and Sunday vs Kamloops. Both opponents in our division and both ahead of us in points.
Friday we defeated North Okanagan Knights 5-4. In a game that featured great goaltending, great passing and courage’s shot blocking late in the game.
Sunday we defeated the # one KIJHL team in points, Kamloops Storm for the third time this season, 3-2. A hard work effort that was rewarded with victory and improved our record to 14-4-1.
Both victories a real credit to our teams depth. We had several players playing games for BCHL teams this weekend and off for family commitments.
