International Soccer Academy of Vancouver Island holding summer camp in Courtenay

The International Soccer Academy of Vancouver Island (ISAVI) is hosting a summer soccer camp on Aug.  30, 31 and Sept. 1 from 9-3 at Queneesh fields in Courtenay.

ISAVI promotes youth soccer on the Island, focusing on a fun environment in which every child gets a chance to play. Through supportive coaching and an emphasis on good sportsmanship, ISAVI seeks to create a positive experience for the player and a sense of confidence in his or her abilities, both on the field and off.

“We offer something different and something unique by developing players, educating them through experiences that will shape their progression into young adults and giving them skills that can be used throughout their lives,” ISAVI states.

“Our coaches and staff  provide the children and parents an invaluable experience on and off the field and we welcome you to join us.”

The coaching staff is comprised of Youssef Safri, a professional midfielder from England’s Premier League, best known for his passing and tackling ability. In 2001, he joined Conventry where he played until 2004. The next season he joined Norwich City.

Mohammed Rbah is an international coach and technical director with over 18 years experience working in England, Qatar and Montreal. Mohammed is also NSCAA Academy Staff with National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He is UEFA pro licence holder, the highest soccer coaching diploma.

Vladimir Samazvanov started his career in Europe, where he played in three different European national championships – Ukraine, Russia and Georgia. The logical next step was to transition into coaching.

His 25 years of coaching experience include leadership positions such as club technical director, Whitecaps FC Vancouver Academy coach, university head coach, BCSA Learning Facilitator, BCSA Regional Grassroots Tutor, FIFA Grassroots Coaching Educator, BC Summer Games zone head coach.

Dr. Ryland Morgans, an ex-player with current EPL champions Leicester City FC, studied his degree, masters degree and PhD at Cardiff metropolitan university. He also has held the UEFA pro license since 2010 and has been a senior instructor for the FA of Wales coach education department since 2001, delivering their UEFA A and pro license courses.

ISAVI states they have a responsibility to provide young players with access to the best environment and coaching possible.

“That’s what we aim to achieve within the International Soccer Academy of Vancouver Island. Our aim is that all children leave our programs with greater knowledge of the game and improved technical skills

The academy mission statement is to maintain and continually improve a program throughout the academy structure that nurtures young players so that they achieve their maximum potential.”
