Isfeld Ice eliminated from BC AA high school boys volleyball championships

A promising start turned into a disappointing finish for the Isfeld Ice on Friday morning as they bowed out of the 2016 BC AA high school boys volleyball championships.

Facing Pacific Christian Pacers of Victoria in a win-or-go-home match at the Langley Events Centre, the #12 seed Ice won a hard-fought first game 28-26 only to have the #8 Pacers rally to take the next two games 28-15, 15-9.

Pacific Christian will play #10 Prince Charles Bulldogs of Creston on Saturday morning in the game to decide 9th and 10th place at the 16-team tournament.

On the championship side of the draw, today’s semifinals feature #2 Pacific Academy Breakers of Surrey vs. #6 College Heights Cougars of Prince George and #3 MEI Eagles of Abbotsford vs. #1 Langley Christian Lightning.

On Saturday, the bronze medal game goes at 2 p.m. and the gold medal game at 7 p.m.

Ice Recap

Isfeld went 0-3 in Pool C play on the opening day of play (Nov. 30), losing 18-25, 19-25 to Prince Charles of Creston, 15-25, 20-25 to #9 Hugh McRoberts Strikers of Richmond, and 20-25, 28-30 to #11 Clarence Fulton Maroons of Vernon.

On Dec. 1 the Ice fell 12-25, 21-25, 12-25 to College Heights in the first round of the playoffs.

That dropped them to the placement side of the draw, where later on Dec. 1 they defeated #13 Lambrick Park Lions of Victoria 25-22, 25-19 to advance against Pacific Christian.
