Isfeld Ice seeded 12th going into B.C. AA high school boys volleyball championships

The Mark R. Isfeld Ice are seeded 12th in the 16-team AA division going into the Big Kahuna Boys Volleyball Championships, which run Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 at the Langley Events Centre.

The Ice are in Pool C along with #9 seed Hugh McRoberts Strikers of Richmond, #10 Prince Charles Bulldogs of Creston and #11 Clarence Fulton Maroons of Vernon.

Isfeld qualified for the B.C.s by finishing second at the Vancouver Island championships, which they hosted Nov. 18-19 in Courtenay. Pacific Christian School of Victoria, who defeated the Ice in the Island final, are the #8 seed at the provincials.

In the AA pre-provincial Top 10 rankings released Nov. 15, McRoberts was #9 and Prince Charles was an Honourable Mention, which means talent runs deep in Pool C.

The Ice will open round robin pool play Nov. 30 against Prince Charles at 9:30 a.m. then take on McRoberts at noon. They meet Clarence Fulton at 2:30 p.m.

Playoffs run Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with semifinals at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 3 the AA bronze medal game goes at 2 p.m. with the gold medal game at 7 p.m., followed by award ceremonies.

The Fraser Valley claimed the top seeds in the AA with a powerful foursome — #1 zone champ Langley Christian School, #2 regular-season champ Pacific Academy, defending provincial titleist #3 MEI, and #4 Langley Fundamental, the 2015 B.C. runner-up.
