Isfeld Secondary wins Esquimalt Fire Basketball Tournament

The 4th annual Esquimalt Fire Senior Boys Basketball Tournament wrapped up Saturday night,

The 4th annual Esquimalt Fire Senior Boys Basketball Tournament wrapped up Saturday night with the Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School team from Courtenay emerging as the winner.

Isfeld defeated the Alberni team 59-47 in the final.

The host team Esquimalt High School finished in 5th spot with one win and two losses. Esquimalt’s John Fernando was selected to the All-Star team.

Esquimalt officially started the tournament Friday afternoon with a close 80-77 victory over Duncan Christian School.

Prior to the boys game, the senior girls teams from Vic High and Esquimalt played. Esquimalt won that game 45-30.

Final standings for the tournament were:

1st: Mark Isfeld

2nd: Port Alberni

3rd: Parkland

4th: Duncan Christian

5th: Esquimalt

6th: Reynolds

7th: GNS

8th: Vic High
