Aiden Jenner scored twice in his debut as the Nelson Leafs beat the Creston Valley Thunder Cats 3-1 on Friday.

Jenner, who was signed by the Leafs prior to the KIJHL’s Jan. 10 trade deadline, put the Leafs ahead in the second period and added another in the third.

David Sanchez also scored for Nelson (28-12-6), which won its seventh straight game. Leafs goaltender Tenzin Mint meanwhile made 31 saves.

Vin Jackson had the lone goal for Creston Valley (20-18-7), while goaltender Riley O’Laney stopped 33 shots.

Nelson next hosts the Beaver Valley Nitehawks on Saturday. The game is the first of three in a row against the Nitehawks, who are one point ahead of the Leafs for the Neil Murdoch Division lead with a game in hand ahead of the regular-season finale on Feb. 22.
