The rain washed out the Kootenay AA High School championship field hockey game between Trail’s J. L. Crowe Hawks and Nelson’s L.V. Rogers Bombers Secondary School in Pass Creek on Tuesday, but it didn’t affect which teams go to provincials in Surrey next month.

Crowe went undefeated in league play this year and are set to host the provincials, so both Crowe and L.V. Rogers, which finished second, were pegged for the BCs.

The Hawks defeated the Nelson team 5-1 in its final league match last week, and therefore the Bombers conceded the final game, which had been rescheduled for Wednesday, but the field in Pass Creek was still flooded.

Both teams will attend the provincials from Nov. 2-4 in Surrey with the host Crowe as Kootenay 1 and L.V. Rogers as Kootenay 2.

The JLC Hawks also wrapped up its tournament in Oliver last weekend with another perfect record, going 4-0. The Hawks team is peaking at the right time, winning every game decisively including a 3-0 shut out of West Kamloops, a 5-1 drubbing of Kelowna, and two 3-0 wins over Penticton and Oliver.

In the past 10 games, the Hawks have outscored their opponents an impressive 41 to 2 and have yet to lose a game this season.

The Hawks will also have a fundraising bake sale at the Red Mountain Racers Ski Swap on Oct. 29 at the Willie Krause Fieldhouse.
