Hockey fans have a little to keep them cheering over the holidays as Westshore Wolves hit the ice Friday, Dec. 23, when they visit the Saanich Braves at 6:30 p.m. at Pearkes Arena.
After a few days to celebrate with friends and family, the Wolves are back on the ice Friday, Dec. 30 when they play the Peninsula Panthers at 7:30 p.m. at Panorama Arena.

The Belmont Bulldogs senior and junior boys basketball teams close out 2016 by hosting the Bill Spotswood basketball tournament Dec. 28 to 30. Then on Tuesday, Jan. 3 the senior boys host Claremont for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. With just a day’s rest, the Bulldogs travel to Parkland for a Jan. 5 game at 7:30 p.m.
In Div. 2 senior boys play, Royal Bay hosts Reynolds Tuesday, Jan. 3, also at 7:30 p.m.
Belmont’s senior girls kick off the new year on Jan. 3 when they host Oak Bay for a 5:45 p.m. tip-off.
Runners and walkers have two options to bid farewell to 2016. Both the annual Resolution Run and the 28th annual Run Through Time happen on Saturday, Dec. 31.

The Run Through Time, in support of Runners for Compassion and Every Step Counts, offers a 5km run and 3km walk from the University of Victoria’s McKinnon Building. The course wraps around Ring Road and into the inner campus then back out. Registration includes a free head lamp to light your run.
