JOCK TALK: Goddesses takeover the West Shore this weekend

Sunday's run is now a three-day event on the West Shore

Calling all goddesses… The fifth annual Victoria Goddess Run comes to the West Shore this weekend, starting today (June 3) with package pick-up and yoga and continuing with events Saturday before Sunday’s run. To register and for further information, visit victoriagoddess.com.

In local cricket play, Metchosin takes on the Incogs at Metchosin field Saturday, June 4 for a 12 p.m. start.

For ball games of another variety, the Victoria Shamrocks open their week tonight, hosting the Maple Ridge Burrards at 7:45 p.m. at The Q Centre. The Shamrocks next play Friday, June 10, hosting the Langley Thunder at 7:45 p.m.

The Intermediate Shamrocks have a three-game week starting Saturday, June 4 when they host Coquitlam at The Q Centre at 1:30 p.m. The  Shamrocks are on the road Sunday, June 5, playing Delta at 4 p.m. before returning home Saturday, June 11 to host Langley at 1:30 p.m. at The Q Centre.

Victoria Junior Shamrocks play returns Saturday, June 4 when the younger squad hosts the Port Coquitlam Saints at 5 p.m. at The Q Centre.

The action continues Sunday, June 5 in New Westminster when the Junior ‘Rocks take on the Salmonbellies before the finishing their week Tuesday, June 7, hosting the Nanaimo Timbermen at 8 p.m. at The Q Centre.

Racing action welcomes Triangle RV demo night to Western Speedway Saturday, June 4.

The evening features the  Howie’s Car Corral Total Destruction Derby, plus the Lordco Demo series and NEXX Financial Claimer Car action. Grandstands open at 4:30 p.m., with qualifying at 5:30, Fan Fest at 6 (time-permitting) and racing at 6:30.

It’s another great week for baseball fans!

The Victoria HarbourCats open their season in Victoria Tuesday, June 7 with a three-day home-stand against the Wenatchee Applesox. First pitch goes at 6:35 p.m. – visit harbourcats.com for details and tickets.

Join the Victoria Premier Eagles on a roadtrip to Nanaimo on Saturday, June 4. After a quiet week, the team plays next on Sunday, June 12, visiting the Parksville Royals.

The Junior Premier Eagles return to Lambrick Park Saturday, June 4, hosting the North Delta Blue Jays in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.

On Tuesday, May 7, the Junior Eagles face the Victoria Mariners in a cross-town match-up at Henderson Park at 6 p.m.

Repeating last weekend’s match-up at Henderson Park, the Premier Victoria Mariners head to the Mainland Sunday, June 11 for a doubleheader against the Langley Blaze.

The Junior Premier Mariners have a much busier week, opening play Saturday, June 4 against the Coquitlam Redlegs.

On Sunday, June 5, the Junior Ms are back at home hosting the North Delta Blue Jays for a doubleheader at Henderson with games at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. before a June 7 tilt with the Eagles at Henderson.
