Annual Strawberry Cup races take over the Langford track this Friday and Saturday

Racing fans will want to head to Western Speedway this weekend for West Coast Tire and Wheel Strawberry Cup events. On Friday and Saturday, take in the Smith ‘n Gordon Drywall CAMRA Vintage Modifieds, Winged Sprint Cars and Richlock Rentals Sprint cars. For more information, visit westernspeedway.net.

Victoria Shamrocks Western Lacrosse Association action returns to The Q Centre tomorrow night (June 10) when they host the Langley Thunder at 7:45 p.m. After a day’s rest, the ’Rocks are on the road Sunday to face the Maple Ridge Burrards.

The Victoria intermediate Shamrocks have just one game on the calendar this week. Head to The Q Centre on Saturday to cheer on the local boys when they host Langley at 1:30 p.m.

Completing the Shamrocks trio, the juniors are on the road Sunday facing the Port Coquitlam Saints. The road trips continue next Saturday, June 18, when they play the Langley Thunder before returning home June 19 to host the Delta Islanders at 5 p.m. at The Q Centre.

Westshore cricketers are in action this week, with Metchosin facing the Alcos at Windsor Park on Sunday for a noon start, while the Metchosin Midweek team hosts Ross Bay at Beacon Hill next Monday, June 13. Game time is 6 p.m.

Turning to the diamond at Royal Athletic Park, after a weekend on the road to Kelowna, the Victoria HarbourCats have a long homestand, welcoming the Gresham Greywolves June 14 to 16 and the Cowlitz Black Bears June 17 to 19. Visit harbourcats.com for game times and ticket details.

The Victoria Eagles open an action-filled week of B.C. Premier Baseball League play this Sunday, June 12, heading up Island to take on the Parksville Royals in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. The Eagles continue play Tuesday, June 14 in a heavily anticipated game against rival Victoria Mariners at Henderson Field in Oak Bay at 6 p.m.

The Eagles finally return home to Lambrick Park on Saturday, June 18 when they host the White Rock Tritons in a doubleheader. First pitches are scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m.

The Junior Premier Eagles open their week on Saturday, June 11, hosting the White Rock Tritons in a doubleheader at Lambrick Park with games set to start at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12, brings a road trip to Surrey to take on the Whalley Chiefs.

With the Bantam Black AAA Victoria Eagles getting the week off, the Red Eagles fill the diamond with a host of games. Saturday, June 11 has the Eagles on the road, heading to Ladner to meet halfway while playing Kamloops in a doubleheader. Returning home Sunday, June 12, the Eagles host Nanaimo in a doubleheader at Carnarvon Park with games going at 12 and 3 p.m.

The Victoria Premier Mariners have three games on the calendar this week. In addition to hosting the Eagles on Tuesday, the Mariners head to Langley to take on the Langley Blaze in a doubleheader on Saturday, June 11.

The Junior Premier Mariners have just two games scheduled this week, hosting the White Rock Tritons in a Sunday, June 12 doubleheader at Henderson. First pitches go at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
