In local lacrosse action, the junior A Shamrocks continue play on Saturday (May 7), hosting the Coquitlam Adanacs at The Q Centre at 5 p.m. before heading across the pond to take on the Burnaby Lakers on Sunday.
The intermediate A Shamrocks are also on the road Sunday, playing the Langley Thunder. The ’Rocks return home for a Saturday, May 14 game, welcoming the Delta Islanders to The Q Centre for a 2 p.m. start.

High school cycling returns to the West Shore on Tuesday (May 10) with the cross country long course event at the Bear Mountain Resort’s Mountain Bike Park, hosted by Sooke Mountain Cycle.
Senior high school boys’ rugby finals hit the pitch next Thursday (May 12), however, teams and locations were still to be determined by the Gazette’s press time.
The Tier 1 Howard Russell Cup features the first- and second-place teams from Tier 1, and the Colonel Hodgins Cup the third-place team from Tier 1 and the first-place team from Tier 2. The Tier 2 Community Bowl features the second- and third-place teams from Tier 2, and the Tier 2 Community Shield the fourth- and fifth-place teams from Tier 2. Belmont and Royal Bay both play in the Tier 2 division.
Senior girls’ rugby returns Friday (May 6) with Esquimalt hosting a play day including Belmont, Oak Bay, Mt. Doug, Reynolds, Claremont and itself. West Shore high school track and field athletes head to the University of Victoria’s Centennial Stadium next Wednesday, May 11 for the Lower Island championships beginning at 8:30 a.m. And in high school golf, the Lower Island Tournament comes to the Royal Colwood Golf Club on Monday, May 16. The Victoria Eagles hit the diamond this weekend for a busy week of B.C. Premier Baseball League action. Tomorrow (May 7) the Eagles host the Langley Blaze for a doubleheader at Lambrick Park. First pitches are at 12 and 2:30 p.m.
The Junior Premier Eagles are at home, hosting the North Shore Twins at Lambrick Park this Sunday. Game 1 gets underway at 11 a.m., game 2 at 1:30 p.m. The Junior Premiers also have a mid-week match-up against their rival Victoria Mariners on Thursday, May 12. Play opens at Oak Bay’s Henderson Field at 6 p.m.

Following their Thursday tilt against the Junior Premier Eagles, May 14 and 15 have the Mariners hosting the Okanagan Athletics at Henderson Field (3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday May 14 and 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. May 15).
