Women’s premier rugby continues Saturday when Westshore hosts Seattle at 11:30 a.m. at Juan de Fuca fields.
Turning to the soccer pitch, Lower Island women’s play returns to the West Shore Friday (Feb. 10) with Juan de Fuca United hosting Gorge FC at 8 p.m. On Sunday, Juan de Fuca FC hosts Prospect Lake at noon. B.C. Hockey League action sees the Victoria Grizzlies play two home games at The Q Centre this weekend. They welcome Merritt for a 7 p.m. start on Saturday, then Salmon Arm is in town for a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.
In Vancouver Island junior B action, the Westshore Wolves are gearing up for their last games of the regular season. The Wolves host the Peninsula Panthers at 7 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 15 at The Q Centre. In a home and home, the West Shore team then heads out to the Panorama Rec Centre next Friday. Follow the team and cheer on a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
Following a tie and a loss last weekend in the Island Midget Tier 1 hockey playoffs, the Juan de Fuca Grizzlies face the Comox Chiefs tomorrow with a 12:50 p.m. start at The Q Centre in their final round-robin game.
With the senior boys basketball city leagues regular season winding up, teams prepare for their respective category playoffs. Belmont takes on Claremont in one AAAA semifinal next Wednesday (Feb. 15) at 5:30 p.m. at Spectrum, while Oak Bay plays the host Thunder at 7:15. The winners play in the final the next night at 7:15 p.m. after the losers game, with the top three advancing to the Island tournament at Belmont the following week.
The AAA senior boys playoffs at Vic High see Royal Bay play the host Totems in one semifinal at 7:30 p.m. with the finals slated for the next night at Vic High the next night. The school also hosts the Islands the following weekend.
The Belmont senior girls are slated to play North #4 for a spot in next weekend’s Island AAA tournament at Dover Bay in Nanaimo. Watch lowerislandschoolsports.ca for updates.
The Victoria Shamrocks hold their annual spring break lacrosse camp hosted at Eagle Ridge arena by Rhys Duch from March 20 to 22. Young players from 7 to 14 will have the opportunity to hone their skills, have fun and play with Shamrocks players including Duch, Corey Small and Cody Hagedorn.
