B.C. Premier women’s rugby playoff semifinals hit the Juan de Fuca pitch this Saturday (April 29) as the Westshore Valkyries welcome Capilano for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff in Colwood. The winner plays the winner between Seattle and Cowichan for the title in Abbotsford on May 6.
After last week’s start to the season, West Shore cricketers hit the pitch on Saturday when Metchosin takes on Incogs in Victoria and District Cricket Association beginning at noon at Windsor Park.
High school rugby sees the recent B.C. silver-medal winning Belmont senior girls hosting Esquimalt, St. Michaels University School A and B tomorrow (April 28) after school. Next Friday Belmont joins Reynolds and Spectrum playing at Claremont.
The senior girls’ soccer quarter-finals happen next Tuesday (May 2), with third-place A/AA league finisher Royal Bay Ravens travelling to play the second-place finisher in AAA. The Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey Association is evaluating players for local teams heading to the Western Challenge Cup in Edmonton, July 13 to 16. Tryout fee is $20, find evaluation times here.
The Intermediate A and Junior A Victoria Shamrocks host their lacrosse home openers this Saturday. The intermediate ‘Rocks host the New Westminster Salmonbellies at 1:30 p.m., followed by the junior ‘Rocks versus the Port Coquitlam Saints at 5 p.m. Both tilts are at The Q Centre.

Turning to high-performance regional baseball, the Victoria Premier Eagles are on the road all week but the Victoria Mariners bring B.C. Premier Baseball League play to the region. Saturday has the North Shore Twins visiting the Ms on Saturday, May 6 for a doubleheader at Layritz Field at 1 and 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Mariners welcome the Coquitlam Reds for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. games at Layritz.
