The slick striker pulled the hat trick as Kal Tire ambushed Kelowna Vintage 7-0 in Okanagan 55+ league play Thursday night at MacDonald Park.
Jones, a carpenter, produced goals five minutes apart midway through the first half to start the scoring as the Tiremen improved to 4-7. He earned his third Red Cross Man of the Match of the season.
Ron Krause pulled off a rare double-double, taking a turn as keeper in the opening 45 and then beautifully one-touching a hard cross from the right flank by Kevin Mitchell for the 4-0 goal early in the final half.
Birthday boy Pete (The Heat) Richter handled the keeper mitts in the second half, while Denis Chabot, on a penalty shot, Chris Odermatt, after a brilliant run, and Dan Rogers, using his foot instead of his head, completed the offence. It was the towering Rogers’ first goal with a boot in years, Ted Sheehan drawing the assist.
Vintage, who trailed 2-0 at the recess, dropped to 0-11.
The Silver Stars iced Soccer United 1-0 at Mission #13 Sports Field with John Matejicka converting on a partial breakaway with three minutes to play.
Both teams earlier came close to breaking a scoreless deadlock. Yogi Kongsdorf recorded the shutout as the Stars improved to 7-2-1. Soccer United is 3-6-2.

Collaborate Wellness clipped Sir Winston’s Attack 3-2 in Division 2 women’s play Thursday night at MacDonald Park.
Birthday girl Waverly Vanderveen and Mandy Burton both registered some amazing saves sharing time in net. Burton was big with three corner-kick catches.
