Juan de Fuca curlers gear up for B.C. Games

First year for U16 curling event

Eight boys’ and eight girls’ U16 teams are gearing up for the B.C. Winter Games in Kamloops next month.

Representing Zone 6 (Vancouver Island-Central Coast) is Team Drought from Juan de Fuca and Kerry Park. The team is made up of skip Zack Drought, third Sampson McNeil, second Cohen Dawson, lead Anthony Budden, and coach Len Chilibeck.

Also competing for Zone 6 is the Comox Valley Curling Club. That team is made up of third Chanelle Meeres, second Keelie Duncan, lead Bryn Woloshyn and coach Sarah Hassall.

The curlers are among roughly 2,000 athletes, coaches and official from across the province who will be competing in 19 sports. The Games run Feb. 22 to 25.

This is the first year a curling event will be held for U16 curlers. Previously it was a U17 event.
