Nanaimo Island Stone Supply Timbermen got a double dose of New Westminster in junior women’s lacrosse action last weekend.

Hosting New Westminster’s No. 1 and No. 2 junior teams at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, the T-men posted a 5-3 victory Saturday over No. 1, and finished deadlocked 3-3 Sunday against No. 2.

Nanaimo never trailed in Saturday’s game, taking a 2-1 first period lead on goals by Toni Angell and Charlea Taylor.

Marissa Jordan, Victoria, Kultgen and Cass Livesey also scored for the Timbermen, while Kira Middleton added two assists.

Against New West’s No. 2 team Sunday, the T-men fought back from a 2-1 first period deficit, took a 3-2 lead in the final frame only to have the visitors tie it up in the final minutes.

Kalista  Lundgren, Carllie Ashlie and Jordan scored for Nanaimo. Angell added a pair of assists.

Nanaimo hosts Coqutlam No. 1 Saturday (May 7) at 11:30 a.m. and Coquitlam No. 2 Sunday (May 8) at 2:30 p.m. Both games are at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.

The Timbermen travelled to New Westminster’s Queens Park Arena for a rematch Wednesday after press time.
