Kamloops Storm slip past North Okanagan Knights

Kamloops Storm conquer North Okanagan Knights 3-1 in KIJHL action at Nor-Val Sports Centre Friday night.

The Kamloops Storm got all the offence they needed in the first period as they upended the North Okanagan Knights 3-1 at Nor-Val Sports Centre Friday night.

The Storm, who lead the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s Doug Birks Division at 9-4-0-1, got  singles by Cole Merrick, Tylor Seabrooke and Addison Bazian.

North Okanagan, last in the Okanagan loop at 2-7-0-2, replied with a snipe from Vernon product Logan Geefs, who leads the team with 3-4-7 in 11 games.

The Storm outshot the Knights 36-19, and held the hosts to just two shots in the third period. Jason Sandhu made 18 saves for his sixth win, while Mitch Profeit recorded 33 stops in the loss.

North Okanagan visited the Priceton Posse (6-3-1-2) Saturday. The Posse are on a four-game win streak, including a 3-0 shutout of the Knights earlier in the week. Jim Armstrong’s crew heads to the Kootenays for a three-game swing starting Friday against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats (4-5-0-1).
