Kelowna duo wins Kamloops tennis tourney

Ace Wu and Jaimie Staerkle have success in first event together as they prepare for ICG Games in Taiwan.

Kelowna's Ace Wu (left) and Jaimie Staerkle are tuning up to compete in doubles tennis at the International Children's Games this summer in Taiwan.

The Kelowna doubles team of Ace Wu and Jaimie Staerkle look to be in good form in advance of this summer’s International Children’s Games in Tawain.

Wu, 14, and Staerkle, 12, teamed up to win the U16 doubles title last weekend at the Reber Family Junior Challenge tennis event in Kamloops.

In their first event together as a team, Wu and Staerkle won both of their matches on the way to the tournament title last weekend.

Wu attended a tennis academy this past season in California, while Staerkle attends St. Joseph school in Kelowna and is coached by local tennis pro Joachim Nierfeld.

Wu and Staerkle will part of Kelowna’s contingent for the ICG Games, July 11 to 16 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
