Okanagan Rockets forward Eli Zummack and Kelowna Rockets forward Nolan Foote both had a hand in Canada’s silver medal performance at the World Under 17 Challenge in Sault St. Marie, ON.
Zummack and Foote were members of Team Canada Black which fell 2-1 to Sweden Saturday in the gold medal game of the annual international tournament.
In addition, Kelowna Rockets’ assistant Travis Crickard was a member of Team Canada Black’s coaching staff.
Zummack, a 16-year-old Kelowna native, scored Canada’s lone goal in the final game. He finished the tournament with two goals and an assist in six games.
Zummack has five goals and 15 points in six games with the BCMML’s Rockets this season.
Foote, 15, who had a pair of assists in the tournament, scored the game winner in a shootout on Friday as Team Canada Black defeated Russia 3-2 in the semifinal.
Foote, a native of Englewood, CO, has two goals and four points in seven games with the Rockets this season.
Both Zummack and Foote will rejoin their respective teams for games this coming weekend.
The World Under 17 Challenge featured teams from six countries, including three from Canada and one each from Sweden, Russia, Finland, the U.S. and Czech Republic.
