KU-Heat U13 boys soccer team wins Pacific Northwest Winter Classic Tournament

The Kelowna United-Jr. Heat U13 boys won their division at a tournament last weekend in Seattle. The Kelowna United-UBC Okanagan Junior Heat’s U13 boys soccer squad returned home from Washington last weekend with a gold medal in the possession.

One of four KU-Jr. Heat teams competing in Seattle, Jan. 6 to 8, the U13s captured top spot at the 2017 Pacific Northwest Winter Classic Tournament.

In Sunday’s final, the Heat boys defeated the ISC Gunners (Issaquah, WA) 1-0 on penalty kicks.

In the semifinal, the KU-Jr. Heat boys pulled off a come-from-behind 2-1 upset win over Seattle Celtic.

The local U13 boys went a perfect 5-0 during the weekend against teams from the Puget Sound Premier League and the U.S. Soccer Regional League.

In other action, the KU-Junior Heat U14 boys posted a 1-1-1 record, including a 6-0 win over Crossfire ‘03.

The KU-Heat U13 girls and U14 girls teams each finished the event with a win and two losses.

All KU-Jr. Heat teams were competitive with their opponents in all 14 games at the tournament.
