Kelowna’s Quinci Birker and Thana Fayad of Comox have proven to be a force this season on B.C.’s beach volleyball circuit.
The duo won their third gold medal of the 2013 season, capturing the U16 division of the Vancouver Beachfest last weekend at Spanish Banks.
Birker and Fayad, who usually play in the U15 category, won all six of their matches during the tourney, losing only two sets all weekend.
Birker and Fayad will be back at it this weekend in Kelowna at City Park for Sand Series No. 2.
The two will be challenged as they move up to the U18 division for this event. The competition will include a number of Thompson Okanagan elite teams, as well as other local and travelling teams.
Fayad’s sister, Shimen, will be competing with a partner from Penticton.
Action at Sand Series No. 2 begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at City Park.
