Kelowna’s Danielle Hennig has been named Field Hockey Canada’s player of the year for 2014 on the women’s national team.
Hennig, a graduate of KSS, 24, has played in 79 international matches for Canada and has become a leader, both on and off the pitch.
“It’s a huge honour, and really unexpected,” Hennig said. “With any team sport, you can’t do anything without the rest of the team. I know as much as it’s a big honour, all the credit goes back to my teammates.”
Hennig is one of three Kelowna products on the national women’s team, joining Abigail Raye and Natalie Sourisseau.
