Khalsa Lions win one, lose one at B.C. tournament

Pacific Academy starts 2A tournament with two losses

After winning the first game in their first-ever provincial championship tournament, the Khalsa Lions were handed their first defeat Thursday evening.

The Lions, playing at the BC Senior 1A Boys High School Basketball Championships, were defeated 92-58 by the top-seed Ron Pettigrew Christian Lions of Dawson Creek.

Khalsa began the tournament Wednesday with an 86-59 victory over the Duncan Christian Eagles.

Khalsa will play the Credo Christian Kodiaks today at 1:45 p.m. With wins today and tomorrow, the Lions can still place as high as fifth at the 16-team tournament.

In the Senior 2A tournament, the Pacific Academy Breakers lost their second consecutive game. The Breakers fell 91-78 to the Nechako Valley Vikings Thursday afternoon, a day after their 91-70 first-round loss to the St. Patrick Celtics.

Pacific Academy will play the Smithers Gryphons today at 1:45 p.m.
