Kickers ice Impact in Vernon

The Chick Kickers shut down the Grey Monk/Longhorn Impact 1-0

The Chick Kickers shut down the Grey Monk/Longhorn Impact 1-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Masters Division play Tuesday night at Marshall Field #3.

Mel Jacobs converted a 20-yard blast for the lone snipe.

Robyn Sherwood recorded her sixth shutout of the year as the Kickers improved to 8-2.

Newcomer and Player of the Match Felicia O’Gorman handled centre midfield for the 4-4-2 Impact.

The Controllers edged VQA 2-1 at Marshall Field #5.

Keeper Michelle Embleton made some great saves while Mandy Frederick’s speed was rewarded early in the second half when she capitalized on a keeper’s bobble.

The Controllers’ second goal came from midfielder and Player of the Match Tara Murray, after a series of passes between Murray, Amy Shupe and Jessie Bicknell.

Jodi Peshko delivered a strike on a great feed from Shelly Henry and Shupe and narrowly missed.

Jacquie Nuyens was tireless in midfield, contributing to the Controllers attack. Defensive star of the game was Karen Zupp.

Rosters brushed back the Courtesy Motor Sista’s 5-2 at Marshall Field #4.

Renee Cooke opened up the scoring with a beautiful cross from the right,  clicking again in the second half.

Forward Michelle Connolly stepped up to score two and midfielder Katie Reid came away with her first Rosters goal. The Rosters defence worked hard to keep speedy sniper Diane Neudorf contained in the second half with the help of keeper Peggy Schepp.

Roster’s player of the Match went to Cooke, and most Sportsmanlike Player went to Daralee Morris.

The first Sista’s goal came off a solid pass by Liz Peterson to Andy Zubot, who finished top cheddar.

In the second half, Neudorf moved from defence to forward, received a gorgeous head flick from Zubot, and flew past the defence before burying the ball low.

Sista’s most Sportsmanlike Player went to Nancy Bandy for her ball control and playmaking.

In Division 1 women’s play, Infonews Newshounds shut down the Kicksters 3-0.

Kira Lee stole the ball and blasted it from 25 yards out, connecting 15 minutes into the second half.

Megan Prentice scored 10 minutes later after passes from Lee and Maria Thorlakson.

The final goal came in the last five minutes by Jasmine Whitling, who converted on a breakaway after touches from Lee and Tessa Coulthard.

The Ball Blasters bounced the Blazers 3-1 at MacDonald Park.

Vicki Schley, Megan Squair and Danielle  Butler provided the goals.

Cassandra Otto replied for the Blazers.
