The Grand Forks Border Bruins exploded for five goals in the third period to beat the Nelson Leafs 7-4 on Sunday afternoon.
Brady Berger scored twice for Grand Forks (3-2-1), while Dylan Haney, Conner Brennan, Silas Johnson, Yoan Rodrigue and Shayne Pluto added singles. Goaltender Tyler Loura meanwhile finished with 21 saves.
David Lenzin, Ryan Piva, Sawyer Hunt and Andy Fitzpatrick had a goal apiece for the Leafs (3-3-1). Ben Kelsch, in his second straight start, allowed five goals on 35 shots.
The game was Nelson’s third in three days, which began with a double-overtime 5-4 loss to Castlegar and followed Saturday with a 4-3 win against Beaver Valley.
The Leafs next host the Nitehawks on Friday.
